VVA CHAPTER 1084 CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS OF SUPPORTING LOCAL VETERANS

(St. Augustine, FL) On August 28, 2018, Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 1084 of St Johns County, FL held a celebration at Treaty Park in recognition of their fifth birthday. They received their charter as Chapter 1084 on 22 August 2013 and renamed the chapter in 2015 honoring Leo C. Chase, Jr.  Chase was the first resident of St. Johns County to be killed in the Vietnam War. He lost his life at Landing Zone X-Ray, Ia Drang Valley, 15 November 1965.

Present for the celebration in addition to VVA 1084 members were Leo’s mother Pauline Chase, his brother William Jefferson, and distinguished guests from St Johns, Clay, and Duval counties.

Proceeds from the event were donated to Home Again St Johns to assist in their goal to end homelessness in St Johns County.
