(St. Augustine, FL)  On April 23, 2018, Vietnam Veterans (VVA) Chapter 1084 held a ceremony honoring founding member Robert “Bob” Dinkins.  Mike Bousher VVA Florida State Council (FSC) President and John McGinty FSC Vice President presented Bob with a VVA Achievement Medal and certificate commemorating his outstanding leadership in the VVA’s efforts in St. Johns County and across Florida, especially northern Florida.

Under Bob’s stewardship the local VVA Chapter 1084 has grown to 86 members in less than 5 years.   Bob performed the research on the Vietnam dead from St Johns County, and led the effort to change the name of our Chapter to the “Leo C. Chase Jr. Chapter 1084.” Leo C Chase Jr. was the first St John’s County resident to die in Vietnam – 15 November 1965 at Landing Zone X-Ray in the Drang Valley.
